Position: CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPPORT CLERK (Permit Clerk III) Range 11/AMEA

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per PandP 40-40.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides and performs full performance lead level public, front-line, counter support and clerical processing of a variety of permit applications and complaints, including food service and retail marijuana establishment permits, temporary food permits, noise permits and complaints, pool and spa, as well as beauty and barber shop, and pesticide applicator permits.
  • Responds to general public questions and complaints around AMC 10, 15, and 16.
  • Prepares routine correspondence letters, manages program supplies, assures strict security, receives and tracks cash, checks and credit card payments, operates cash register.
  • Prepares daily activity and cash summary reports, collects daily receipts and deposits in the safe, and reconciles division revenues.
  • Assists in initial response and data entry of a variety of complaints including those about restaurants, housing, pests, smoking, noise, and food borne illness.
