TA Support Officer – Birmingham City Council

Grade B – £28,598 – £34,434

Working hours: 36.5 hours per week – Hybrid working (no full time work from home)

This role supports the day‑to‑day operation of the Temporary Accommodation Service, helping to reduce the use of emergency B&B accommodation and ensuring homeless customers receive responsive, customer‑focused tenancy support while in temporary accommodation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide frontline support to homeless customers, building trust and rapport with individuals and families experiencing complex needs.
  • Facilitate tenancy support services, including negotiating with landlords and organising housing options.
  • Collect and maintain accurate data in the service database and report on service metrics.
  • Navigate multiple sites across Birmingham and surrounding areas, visiting customers in hotels, temporary accommodation and supported living settings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to coordinate support and referrals.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Compassionate, empathetic and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and deliver practical solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word).
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and systems.
  • Driving licence is beneficial but not essential; non‑drivers must be able to travel to required sites.
