Social Media & Video Producer

The Daily Memphian is seeking an experienced Social Media & Video Producer with an understanding of news and at least three years working in the industry.

The Social Media & Video Producer will report to the Digital Director and Digital Desk Manager. This role will execute The Daily Memphian’s social and video strategy to further its journalistic mission, earn revenue, strengthen brand recognition and grow audiences.

• Develop social media content from published stories, translating to a local audience with strong writing, editing, photo, video, graphics and reporting skills.
• Manage social media software for scheduling, including developing scheduling strategy and working with software reps and platforms.
• Collaborate with newsroom, multimedia director, podcast hosts to produce and edit video and audio for social media and websites.
• Create independently-produced news content and stories for social media; i.e., attend meetings, events, interviews, including appearing on camera.
• Research and execute opportunities to grow audience, revenue (subscriptions, donations, creator programs) through journalistic storytelling on social media and websites.
• Connect online audiences with The Daily Memphian’s local news mission through a) knowledge of online and local community, and b) a voice that represents The Daily Memphian.
• Coordinate with marketing, advertising and customer service on projects and scheduling.
• Track and report on content analytics, including subscription conversions. Frequently testing and changing strategies as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Candidates should have strong writing and editing skills.

Experience with content creation tools is a must, and candidates must be as comfortable with basic photography and video editing skills, as they are with analyzing data.

Candidates should also be experts on Memphis and the surrounding area.

Candidates should have reliable transportation and be willing to travel throughout the Mid-South.

Weekend and night work is required. The producer will adhere to The Daily Memphian’s in-person and remote work policies.
