Digital Communicator

The South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church is looking to hire a Digital Communicator to be an integral part of our Conference Communications Team, using digital tools to engage, equip and empower local churches in the South Carolina Conference to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

The Digital Communicator will focus on social media, website management and other digital media, as well as assisting with news collection and overall communications strategy and responsibilities.

• Work with the Communications Team to refine and develop digital communications strategies and campaigns.
• Create and share daily social media posts, including videos and written content.
• Interacting with church members, followers and other stakeholders via the conference’s social media accounts.
• Maintain and update the conference website, ensuring the content is current, relevant, and user-friendly.
• Conduct regular website clean-ups to enhance user experience.
• Report, write and edit stories, articles and other communication materials. This often requires attending events and going to churches to gather information.
• Researching digital trends and advising the Communications Team of changes that are relevant to the conference’s communication activities.
• Working with the Communications Team to gather news from various sources within and across the conference for weekly
• Consult with and advise local churches on digital communications, as needed.
• Additional administrative tasks, as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in communications-related field or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in a communications field, preferably within a large organization or non-profit entity, with demonstrated skill working with digital media tools.
• Proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise and engaging content for diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and updating content on websites, with a keen eye for detail and user experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of the English
• Competency in utilizing a range of communication tools and platforms, including content management systems and social media.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a knack for building strong relationships across departments.

• This full-time, salaried position is primarily office-based but allows for a flexible combination of in-office and remote work.
