At 2020 Recordings we are specialists in all aspects of voice production, music and sound design. With 25 years of experience, we are a community of experts from different industries working across audio books, video games, music and creative audio projects. Based at our studios in Tileyard, Kings Cross, we have a small and friendly team and we’re looking for a new member to add to our flexible rota on the audiobook editing team.

The Role

Your role will be focused on editing and proofing audio books that have been recorded at our studio, as well as at remote and home studios. This is a freelance role and remote working. We will ideally need 3 days a week of time.

Essential Candidate Criteria
  • Experience working with editing software or audio recording software, Pro Tools preferred
  • A passion for audio books and story‑telling
  • A strong attention to detail
  • An eye for editing and proofing
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative
  • Strong communication with working to deadlines
Preferred Candidate Criteria
  • Experience working in audio books
  • Experience in voiceover
Key Responsibilities

Proofing and editing recorded audiobook material including;

  • Proof the audio content and ensure that it matches the script, and all pronunciations are correct, researching any tricky words or names if necessary.
  • Making sure that accents or characters have been narrated as intended, and consistently.
  • Removing any clicks or noises, and extraneous breaths, and flagging for mastering/pickups any that cannot be removed.
  • Ensuring all material is recorded, including credits and any necessary front/end matter.
  • Adjusting the pace of the narration where necessary.
  • Flagging if there are inconsistencies in the levels, mic distance and technique or tone.
  • Reporting on the audio files, and letting the production team know if there are any issues to flag as soon as possible.
