Position: Synchrony is hiring: AVP, Associate Creative Director in Costa Mesa

Role Summary / Purpose

Synchrony is continuing to build a world class creative organization committed to driving results with our retail and payments partners while also delivering leading customer experiences. We are seeking an Associate Creative Director with a passion for creating award‑winning work to join Goldmind, Synchrony’s in‑house creative agency. Our ideal candidate is a strong creative thinker, natural collaborator, storyteller and strong creative leader.

The Associate Creative Director solves problems in collaboration with creative directors, art directors, clients, copywriters, designers, developers and account team members. Key responsibilities include leading a team, directing their work and executing and elevating the creative for business platforms across Synchrony that focus on B2B and B2C audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for concepting, executing and directing a wide range of creative projects including marketing campaigns, social media, web pages, presentations, emails, display ads and in‑person experiences.
  • Collaborate with fellow creatives and outside vendors as required to exceed expectations on projects.
  • Manage, grow, support and lead creative team members by sharing knowledge, encouraging collaboration and inspiring bold creative thinking that elevates the work.
  • Present creative work to team members including creative director, account managers, clients and executive leadership.
  • Conduct and participate in creative reviews while delivering direct feedback focused on project goals.
  • Align vision with, and conduct responsive communication with manager/creative director.
  • Work with account and project managers to ensure project objectives are clearly outlined and appropriate time is allocated.
  • Uncover insights and make strong connections with creative work in the Health & Wellness industry.
  • Follow budgets, timelines and internal processes for each project while advocating for needed changes to improve outcomes.
  • Deliver creative solutions that impact both brand metrics and business outcomes.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or in lieu of degree, a high school diploma and 8+ years of work experience in digital design and/or video in an advertising agency, digital agency, or video production company.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience delivering integrated and digital projects, advertising/digital agency experience coordinating interactive digital content from initial stage to final execution within an agency or in‑house creative group.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative programs and Figma.
  • Must be comfortable within a fast‑paced digital production environment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for business needs – up to 5%.
  • Must provide a portfolio/work samples to be considered for the role.
Desired Characteristics
  • Bachelor’s Degree in advertising, graphic design, communications, digital media or related field.
  • Experience in B2B with a focus on integrated‑campaign building, social media and conceptual thinking.
  • Work hours based on East Coast Time Zones Business Hours.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative programs and Figma;
    Figma experience strongly preferred.
  • Ad Agency experience or in‑house agency experience preferred.
  • Experience developing creative solutions for the Health & Wellness Industry or Financial Service (fintech/financial or credit card) industry.
  • Strategic, innovative, and conceptual thinker with strong digital experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, great collaborator and experience directly managing creative teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible, fast thinker that exhibits poise in critical or stressful times.
  • Takes initiative and is a self‑starter.
  • Strong creative problem‑solver.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Passionate and creative, inspired by new trends and emerging technologies.
