The Refinery is an award-winning entertainment advertising agency in Los Angeles, CA. We work with all of the major studios producing social, digital, and print creative campaigns for theatrical, television & streamer clients.
We are looking for candidates who embody our core values. Refiners are talented, kind, client-focused, ego-free, and passionate. While we operate virtually, we’ve built a culture rooted in connection and care, where people genuinely support one another. We work hard to make sure everyone feels like part of the team.
Enough about us, here’s what we’re looking for:
We’re currently looking for a freelance Key Art Finisher to join us as a remote independent contractor. This role will work closely with both our US-based creative teams and our EU-based teams, collaborating daily on high-profile entertainment campaigns.

Finishing is more than retouching. A Finisher’s main objective is to rebuild comp files accurate to real life (or whatever world the finish is intended to live in). - Take direction from the Lead Finisher and Design team to finish aspects of art for assembly by the Lead Finisher
- Amend finishing layouts based on feedback from the Design team and client
- Finish quality masking, including flyaways
- Perform high-end retouching with the utmost quality
- Occasional upscaling using tools and filters, as well as supplemental painting to ensure realism
- Deliver files and assets to the client via the Design team
- Convert raws and apply profile adjustments
- Assist on finishing of platform assignments
- Hands-on experience in high resolution retouching and print finishing work
- Proven track record of effective communication and collaboration
- A portfolio of finishes demonstrating skills and abilities
- Advanced knowledge of Photoshop
- Experience collaborating across time zones in a fast-paced production environment
- Must be based in or able to work standard business hours in EU time zones Monday-Friday (CET/WET)
- Fluency in English, spoken and written, is required for real-time collaboration, feedback, and client-facing work.
