Build Community Through Journalism

You will function as ASCN’s public leader. That means connecting with readers, sparking discussion, and cultivating a sense of community among executives and clinical decision-makers who rely on ASCN as their essential information source.

You will publish ~5 original stories per week, including scoops, enterprise reporting, analysis, and breaking news coverage. To fuel these stories, you’ll need to interview 3‑5 sources per week.
Be the Editorial Voice & Public Face of ASCNRepresent the brand at industry events (the annual ASCA conference and the ASC News Investment & Operations Conference, for example), on stage, and across digital platforms, showing audiences why your reporting matters and inviting them into deeper engagement.
Spark Discussion & Build Communities Around Your ReportingTurn stories into conversations by:
- Engaging readers on social and professional networks
- Seeding thoughtful discussion among industry leaders
- Encouraging debate and connection in comment threads, live chats, and events.
Regularly interview CEOs, founders, investors, clinicians, policymakers, and academics. Cultivate and maintain deep, trusted source relationships that strengthen both your coverage and the broader ASCN community. Frequent outreach, networking calls and interviews is a key to succeeding in this role.
Host, Moderate & ConveneUse your editorial authority to lead ASCN’s virtual and in‑person conversations. Moderate panels, host podcasts, and run live or virtual convenings that bring stakeholders together to react to your reporting and share new insights.
Drive Event SuccessHelp program high‑value events that reflect your coverage priorities and meet the information needs of the ASCN community. Ensure events become vibrant touchpoints for readers to engage with you and one another.
Create High‑Impact Custom ContentCollaborate on sponsored content, white papers, reports, and thought‑leadership series—maintaining editorial integrity while serving audience needs.
