What We Do/Project
Concept + Design Studio is the full-service in-house partner for all things creative within HBO Max Marketing at Warner Bros. Discovery. Our work spans multiple teams globally and encompasses brand identity, campaigns, toolkits, key art, OOH, motion graphics, and print and digital design. Together, we create and translate the brand for any medium to best serve our stories.
We are seeking a talented Copy Editor with a deep understanding of branding and storytelling combined with an expertise in syntax, style, and grammar. As part of the Creative Copy & Editing team, the Copy Editor will copyedit, proofread, and fact-check a variety of content across all channels and assets - digital, print, OOH, lifecycle, paid media, social, and more. They will be a vital partner and resource, providing brand stewardship, editorial support, and clarity of messaging.
Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role
• Provide expertise in syntax, style, and grammar from inception of a project to final approvals, working with a team of Copywriters, Creative Directors, Art Directors, and Designers
• Review layouts and PDFs, and collaborate with the Design team until all necessary edits have been made and accuracy of all information is confirmed
• Verify accuracy of all information-copy, tune-in, and legal requirements-and spelling, syntax, and styling of copy prior to release
• Copyedit business partner text, addressing errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, clarity, syntax, audience, and adherence to style. Formulate queries and resolve them with clients. Work directly with the Senior Copy Editor, Designers, and Copywriters regarding style guidelines for specific projects/departments. Fact-check when requested. Mark errors, changes and queries with standard, legible proofreaders' marks. Provide clear and concise edits via email, PDF annotation, or in person
• Proofread first-pass page proofs against final, copy edited text for accuracy of composition/layout and design to ensure that all elements adhere to the design template and/or are consistent and effective from an editorial standpoint. Check edits through additional passes to ensure that any new text is grammatically correct and stylistically consistent. Perform final page check for style, accuracy, and continuity
• Consult with Legal to ensure correct copyright designations and language
• Help maintain the proofreading/copyediting production schedule. Prioritize work based on production schedules and work with manager to resolve any scheduling conflicts. Submit copy edited files to business partners and monitor deadlines for approval of the text. Adhere to established deadlines
• Across all levels, be accountable for adhering to project timelines, client support, and service
• Communicate copyediting workflow issues to team leads as they arise. Keep abreast of project status
• Understand and apply basic legal considerations regarding copyright and trademark usage as well as photo cropping. Collaborate with entire team regarding content on multiple projects to ensure consistency with internal standards and guidelines, including tone, style, legal requirements, and brand compliance
Must Have Skills / Requirements
1) Strong copyediting experience.
a. Reviewing short- and long-form copy.
2) Familiarity with style guide usage
3) Ability to polish copy for final delivery.
Nice to Have Skills / Preferred Requirements
1) Entertainment industry experience a plus.
Soft Skills:
1) Sophisticated knowledge of the English language (grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, inclusivity) and familiarity with advertising and marketing styles and terms
2) Excellent organizational, time-management, and verbal/written communication skills
3) Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
4) Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and AP style
5) Ability to interface with all levels of management
Technology Requirements:
1) Proficient in Mac, Microsoft Office, and collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, )
2) Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
Education / Certifications
1) Bachelor's degree in English or a related field

• Sourcing in New York - Hudson Yards for remote worker.
• Remote requirement, but candidate must be able to go on-site for day 1 to pick up hardware.
