We’re looking for a Reporter to join our team at Devon Live
. We are already one of Reach’s most popular brands in the South West of England with our team who specialise in brilliant, detailed, ambitious and entertaining storytelling.

Our journalists love writing in-depth investigative pieces that we know our audience will engage with and remember the brand for, as well as more‑light hearted stories to bring a smile to your face in these trying times. You will have a real passion for Devon and the surrounding areas.

This role is home based however it is important you are based in or around the Devon region, ideally around Exeter or Torbay. There will be monthly meetings in Exeter.

You will also have access to our Bristol and Plymouth office spaces should you wish to utilise working in these.

You will write and develop stories that are of interest to our readers in Devon and the surrounding areas, with great pictures and engaging video. You will deliver a fast turnaround on stories about local communities which engage as many readers as possible with exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals. All while ensuring that every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with the Editor’s Code of practice.

You will be confident using a range of digital formats and quickly identify breaking news by utilising social media.

• Produce investigative and lighthearted stories for Devon and surrounding regions.
• Deliver fast turnaround on local community stories with exclusive content.
• Research and publish in accordance with Editor’s Code of practice.
• Use digital formats and identify breaking news via social media.

• Experienced NCTJ or equivalent senior qualified journalist with exceptional media law knowledge.
• Bold, confident, comfortable meeting people face to face, developing a strong contacts book.
• Strong editing and writing skills, able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
• Social media savvy with current SEO knowledge; ideally familiar with newsroom analytics and CMS.
• Flexible, inquisitive, on pulse of what makes a great story.
• First‑rate editing and writing skills, can work under pressure.
