Based in Los Angeles, Phony Texts is part of Phony Content, a digital media company focused on creating trendsetting content for Millennial and Gen Z audiences.

We’re looking for a
creative, detail-oriented Video Editor
to join our production team and help bring our scripted, short-form stories to life. This role is ideal for someone who understands pacing, visual storytelling, and mobile-first content — and thrives in fast-paced, high-volume production environments.

You’ll collaborate closely with producers, writers, and creative leads to edit narrative videos designed for Snapchat and other short-form platforms. This is a
remote position based in Colombia
, with working hours that substantially overlap with Pacific Time.

• Edit short-form, narrative-driven videos optimized for Snapchat, Tik Tok, You Tube Shorts, and other mobile platforms
• Assemble edits using screen recordings, text message animations, images, video clips, sound effects, and music
• Collaborate with producers and creative leads to understand story intent, pacing, and platform requirements
• Create platform-native edits and variations, optimizing for aspect ratio, length, hooks, and retention
• Maintain consistency in visual style, tone, timing, and storytelling conventions across episodes and series
• Add subtitles, captions, on-screen graphics, and simple motion design to enhance clarity and engagement
• Perform basic audio cleanup, sound design, and music balancing while following licensing and brand guidelines
• Organize and maintain project files, assets, and exports for efficient collaboration and reuse
• Incorporate creative feedback quickly and accurately while meeting tight deadlines
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate clearly about progress and timelines
• Stay up to date on short-form video trends, Snapchat best practices, and mobile storytelling techniques
• Support additional post-production or content-related tasks as needed

• 2–4 years of experience as a video editor in digital media, social content, or short-form production
• Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro;
  Photoshop and After Effects experience is a plus
• Excellent sense of pacing, timing, and visual storytelling, especially for short-form formats
• Experience editing content built from screen recordings, text overlays, images, and mixed media
• Basic understanding of sound design, dialogue cleanup, and music mixing
• Familiarity with editing for Snapchat, Tik Tok, You Tube Shorts, or similar platforms
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow creative guidelines precisely
• Clear written and spoken communication skills
• Professional working proficiency in English (able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English)
• Part-time contract position (approximately 25 hours per week, roughly $450 USD/week)
• Remote role based in Colombia
• Working hours must substantially overlap with 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time
• Immediate start preferred; contract start date flexible based on availability
• This is a paid contract role, with compensation based on experience
• Potential for contract extension based on performance and production needs
• Reliable internet connection and private remote workstation required
