Project Assistant – 22 month fixed term contract. 15 hpw.
About the projectFrom Past to Present is an oral history project which will collect and share personal stories of people with learning disabilities and the professionals who worked with them in Kent, focusing on how support surrounding relationships and sexuality have changed in the past four decades. The project will train social care staff to become oral history interviewers, record interviews, and share this heritage through a public exhibition, events and a professional creative performance.
The project is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and delivered in partnership with a range of local organisations.
We are looking for a Project Assistant to join Choice Support or a fixed term contract (22 months) and help deliver the From Past to Present project. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting a project that celebrates history and promotes inclusion.
You will play a key role in organising interviews, training sessions, and events. You will also lead on social media and communications, helping us share updates and celebrate achievements. From preparing accessible materials to supporting people with learning disabilities to get involved, your work will help ensure the project runs smoothly and reaches as many people as possible.
HoursThis is a part-time role, 15 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements. Some evening or weekend work may be needed for events, but we will always plan ahead and support you to balance your time.
LocationHybrid working is available. You will work from home in Kent and attend in-person activities, including Maidstone and Canterbury. Travel across Kent will be part of the role having a driving licence and access to your own vehicle is desirable.
About youYou are organised, creative, and passionate about inclusion. You enjoy working with people and have experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities. You are confident using social media and can create engaging content that reflects our values.
Essential Requirements- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience creating social media content
- Clear and respectful communication skills
- Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines
- Confidence using IT tools like Word, Excel, and email
- Willingness to travel across Kent when required
It would be great if you also have experience supporting events or training, preparing accessible materials, audio editing or doing research – but this is not essential.
