This position reports into our office in Champaign, IL location.Local candidates preferred. However, we may consider hybrid/remote work arrangements. Typical pay for this position is $70,000-$90,000. The final offer for this position will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the candidate selected.
As a 3D Tech Artist, you will use your experience and skill to create new 3D art content for Horizon Hobby software products. Because of the unique nature of our asset needs, you will have additional technical responsibilities beyond just 3D modeling as you integrate your art into the larger software framework. Our pipelines are always evolving, and you will have the chance to affect that process and grow with them.
- Create visually realistic art assets for simulation games, using mainstream 3D modeling tools.

3D Studio Max
Maya
Blender
ZBrush
Substance toolchain
Photoshop Illustrator - Asset types may include:
- RC Airplanes
- RC Helicopters
- Drones
- Photorealistic flying sites
- 3D-rendered flying sites
- Scenery objects
- Asset optimization will be utilized
- Hi-to-low poly baking
- UV mapping pipeline
- Develop art and rendering technology for your art assets.
- Setting up animation/articulation
- Creating shaders
- Work with developers to connect art to software
- Evaluate the work of your fellow artists and provide constructive feedback
- Test software fixes and features when appropriate
- Work with QA and Production to ensure that assets are ready for release
- High level of proficiency with 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Blender
- 5+ years of experience creating video game art assets
- Experience creating assets for Unreal Engine 5
- Familiarity or proficiency with model aviation
- Set up and maintain office space
- Lifting of computer equipment
