Position: Contract Graphic Designer

The mission of the Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA) is to build, engage, and support our diverse community through programs, services, and activities that connect neighbors and foster civic engagement.

We are looking for a positive, curious, mission-driven Graphic Designer Contractor to join our team. This role collaborates across all PNA departments, including Events, Philanthropy, the Greenwood Senior Center, and the DIY Hub, to ensure brand consistency and recognition. The Graphic Designer will evolve and maintain the organization’s visual identity and brand guidelines, supporting credibility, trust, and fundraising efforts.

This flexible, primarily remote position requires 10–15 hours per week, depending on workload, with flexible hours needed for onsite meetings and organizational context building. In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and elevate PNA’s visual identity, ensuring brand consistency across all materials. Essential Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update templates for programs (e.g., Whittier Kids, Greenwood Senior Center, Co-Ops, DIY Hub, Volunteers) and upload them to Canva for staff to make iterations.
  • Design print-ready event collateral, including posters, banners, social media assets for 15 annual events. 3 annual events require programs (6-12 pages).
  • Create lobby banners and signage that educate on PNA’s mission and offerings across three sites:
    Phinney Center, Greenwood Senior Center, and Whittier Kids.
  • Maintain updated, cohesive and accessible way finding signage for all campuses.
  • Manage design for The Review, the PNA’s quarterly print newspaper.
  • Maintain and update general templates as needed.

A successful candidate will be:

  • Enthusiastic about PNA’s mission to foster belonging and connections in the Northwest Seattle community.
  • Seasoned (7-15 years) Graphic Designer with the capacity to add PNA as a client.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva, with print production experience preferred.
  • Able to create templates and migrate designs to Canva for staff use.
  • Possess a strong portfolio showcasing design projects that focus on brand cohesiveness.
  • Able to collaborate with many voices but maintain a strong design point of view.
  • Have expertise in design principles, typography, color theory, and composition.
  • Skilled in creating engaging visuals for both digital and print platforms.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet reasonable deadlines.
  • Familiar with current design trends and tools to maintain creativity and effectiveness.

This is a hybrid, 10-15 hour per week Monday through Friday position paying $24-28/hour DOE. We offer a mission-driven, people-oriented, caring working environment.

Current programs include two preschool cooperatives, a licensed preschool and school age program at Whittier Elementary School, a hot meal program, the Greenwood Senior Center, PNA Village, a tool lending library, a business membership program, family memberships, room rentals, and countless special events that bring friends and neighbors together.
