Role Overview:
Abdul for Senate is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our team for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for a creative, detail‑oriented designer who can help define and execute the visual identity of a statewide U.S. Senate campaign and is committed to electing Abdul El‑Sayed as our next U.S. Senator.
This role is ideal for a designer who understands how strong visual systems drive narrative, persuasion, and engagement across digital platforms and who thrives in fast‑moving, collaborative environments.
This is a full‑time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, with flexibility for remote work and a relocation timeline. Compensation includes a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Design high‑quality graphics for digital and social platforms, including social posts, carousels, stories, ads, email graphics, and web assets.
- Translate complex policy and political ideas into clear, engaging, human‑centered visual storytelling.
- Collaborate closely with the Digital Director and content team to concept visual approaches for campaign moments, announcements, and rapid‑response content.
- Produce fast‑turn graphics in response to breaking news or campaign priorities, often within same‑day or 24‑hour timelines.
- Prepare final assets in multiple sizes and formats optimized for each platform.
- Incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders efficiently while maintaining strong design judgment and consistency.
- Support motion or video projects as needed by designing graphic elements such as title cards, lower thirds, templates, or visual systems.
Qualifications (Required):
- Strong design portfolio demonstrating clear visual storytelling, typography, layout, and brand consistency.
- Proficiency in core design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign (or comparable tools).
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices for digital‑first design, accessibility, and engagement.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities under tight deadlines.
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in graphic design and a minimum of 1 year in a campaign related role preferred.
- Must have transportation to attend events as needed.
- Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive.
- Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions.
- Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast‑paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail.
