The biggest brands in UK showbiz are looking for their next content creator. Working primarily on both print and digital titles, the right candidate will be responsible for pitching and writing engaging, informative and breaking news content across our titles.
We are seeking a talented writer with a nose for a good story. Someone who is happy to rub shoulders with stars at glitzy events and red carpets, as well as attending face-to-face interviews with celebrities.
Reporting directly to their content editor, the right candidate will be passionate about all things celebrity, have an in-depth knowledge of current affairs and pop culture and a passion for learning and developing their skills as a reporter.
You will be responsible for writing engaging content to suit all our brands, pitching news stories and interviews that work for the various titles but also spot the opportunities where that content can be shared.
You will be proactive in seeking feedback and support to continually develop your knowledge, skills and confidence and take advantage of development opportunities to ensure continuous improvement to the quality and efficiency of your content creation.
Hybrid role: 2 days in our London office, remainder work from home.
Key Responsibilities- Pitch a list of news story ideas and interview opportunities on a daily basis, always thinking one step ahead of the competitors.
- Write high quality and engaging news stories and interviews to tight deadlines.
- Chase interview opportunities, RSVP to events and stay abreast of all celebrity news.
- Attend events and red carpets, creating a database of contacts and talking to relevant stars to capture the crucial news line.
- Interview celebrities either face-to-face or over the phone, asking the right questions to get the best news lines, ensuring you’re creating new and fresh content unknown to our readers.
- Work closely with colleagues and content editor to develop existing ideas and come up with new angles and concepts.
- A love of all things showbiz and celebrity, from the latest on who’s dating who to the gossip everyone can’t stop talking about.
- A passion for reality TV – especially Love Island, Strictly Come Dancing and I’m a Celeb.
- A wide breadth of knowledge across the celebrity world.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
- An understating of CEO
- A good idea of writing for both print and digital platforms.
- Good time management skills and flexibility on your working schedule.
- A keen desire to attend out of hours events; sometimes you will be required to work weekends.
- Experience of working in a fast paced newsroom is desirable.
