Local Language – Hybrid/Remote position (Oakland, CA)

We’re seeking a full-time Art Consultant with prior experience in hospitality and/or corporate art consulting for commercial environments. This hybrid role balances focused remote work (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) with in-person collaborative work in our creative studio (Tuesday and Thursday).

We are only open to a fully remote applicant if they have considerable experience working directly in our industry with art consulting firms that cater to hospitality interior design firms.

Company Description

Local Language is a hybrid art consulting firm and art fabrication studio based in Oakland, CA, specializing in curating and creating unique art collections that tell the story of each location. With a focus on design narratives, history, and community, Local Language works with artists globally to source talent tailored to each project while creating bespoke artworks in our fabrication studio.

From concept to installation, the team collaborates with clients to bring ideas to life in commercial properties around the world.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Art Consultant working at a commercial level with hospitality-focused interior design firms and property development teams
  • Demonstrated portfolio of completed projects, ranging from boutique properties to large-scale, branded hotel environments
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • An affinity for being flexibility and resilient
  • A strong work ethic and drive for success
  • Bay Area–based, with availability to work from our studio two days per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage key relationships with clients, designers and procurement companies
  • Curate and present inspiring art proposals
  • Provide expert guidance in selecting artwork that aligns with the client’s design narrative, budget, and project timeline
  • Work alongside our design and fabrication teams to facilitate project solutions
  • Direct and manage independent artist commissions
  • Establish budgets and timelines
  • Oversee and manage a dedicated Project Coordinator to assist with your projects
