We help our audiences pursue their passions through highly trusted, original content – in print, video and online. Our much-loved brands include BBC Science Focus, BBC Wildlife Magazine, Your Home, Gathered.how, Bike Radar and Cycling Plus.

We also have an award-winning content agency that works with major charities, brands and membership organisations to help them tell their stories and engage audiences better – in print, video, and online.

Position

We’re looking for an experienced Production Editor to join our BBC Wildlife Magazine team on a full-time permanent basis.

BBC Wildlife is a long-standing and renowned magazine brand. We produce 13 print issues a year, as well as a large volume of content for our website and platforms such as Apple News. The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running, so prior experience as a production editor or senior sub-editor is essential.

You’ll be able to edit copy so it sparkles, and have a flair for eye-catching headlines, captions and standfirsts. You will be a superb wordsmith who loves to create clear, compelling and consistent copy, and, in keeping with the trusted nature of our brand, you’ll be a stickler for accuracy, ready to question and check scientific facts.

You’ll be guardian of our style and tone, and have excellent attention to detail – you’ll be prepared to haggle over a hyphen. You’ll also oversee the commissioning of several regular sections, completing first edits and liaising with writers.

You’ll be able to work confidently but quickly, and thrive in a deadline-driven environment. You’ll be a great communicator, be highly organised and enjoy being part of a busy team.

Knowledge of natural history is an advantage, but not essential. There will be the opportunity for some writing for the right candidate.

Requirements

• Experience in a production editor or senior sub-editor role
• Knowledge of InDesign, Word, Excel, general Mac skills
• Excellent command of the English language and its creative use
• Excellent eye for detail and checking facts
• Knowledge of natural history
