SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Social Content, the Social Media Content Editor, Evenings & Weekends is responsible for creating multiple quick-turnaround content items a day, while also working on longer-lead projects, and helping the team meet daily content frequency goals. This position will produce content with a focus on Black culture, entertainment, politics, and current trends, that appeal to our audiences and boost brand awareness across all social media platforms.

The Social Media Content Editor is crucial in driving our social media strategy forward, ensuring our content remains innovative, competitive, and engaging across various platforms.

The candidate must excel in managing content across multiple social media platforms and staying ahead of competitors. Additionally, the role is responsible for leading the department’s original and exclusive output inclusive of creative brainstorms, managing the content calendar, and developing comprehensive content strategies to ensure targeted goals are met. This role requires a keen eye for trending news, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to inspire, train, and guide a team to produce top-notch content.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Write, develop, edit, and produce engaging and high-quality content and copy tailored for various social media platforms including but not limited to Instagram, X, Tik Tok, Facebook, and Threads.
  • React quickly to breaking news ensuring all social media content is thoroughly fact-checked, free from errors, and aligned with the company’s brand voice and content standards.
  • Stay abreast on current trending topics that connect with The Shade Room audience and create content based on trends, and digital content best practices
  • Generate exclusive content for all social media platforms.
  • Continuously grow a positive and inclusive social media presence by monitoring commentary on posts under The Shade Room’s social media platforms.
  • Monitor and respond to messages, and interactions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor competitors’ social media activity in real time to stay ahead of trends, news, and potential threats.
  • Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone) on all public platforms.
  • Mentor and develop junior social media team members on best practices, tools, and techniques, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Contribute creative and engaging ideas to brainstorm sessions with the social team.
  • Produce weekly creatives and creative content inspired by nostalgia, originality, trending topics, and various platforms, among other sources.
  • Lead regular creative brainstorm sessions to generate innovative content ideas with a focus on exclusive and original content and benchmarks.
  • Ensure all content ideas align with the company’s brand voice and strategic goals.
  • Adjust the content calendar and master doc as needed based on real-time events and trending topics.
