is looking for a Features Writer
to join our editorial team!
As a Features Writer, you’ll spotlight the voices, stories, and experiences of fans from all walks of life. Whether you’re exploring the cultural impact of a world tour, diving into the emotional power of fan fiction, or profiling the creative fans behind the scenes, you’ll be at the heart of the conversation.
Responsibilities- Develop and pitch original feature ideas that align with That Fangirl Life’s voice and mission
- Research and write engaging longform articles, profiles, and fan-focused pieces
- Conduct interviews with fans, creators, and industry voices to add depth and authenticity to your stories
- Stay up to date on current trends, pop culture moments, and fandom discourse across social platforms Collaborate with the editorial team to refine stories from draft to publication
- Ensure all content aligns with our brand values—celebrating fandom, inclusivity, and diverse perspectives
- Represent That Fangirl Life respectfully when engaging with interviewees and fan communities
- Meet deadlines and be open to constructive feedback from editors
- A confident writer who can bring fully developed feature pitches
to the editorial team—think bold, timely, and thoughtful. - Someone who’s not afraid to talk to other fans
—you’ll be reaching out for interviews, gathering quotes, and capturing the heart of a story through real voices. - A strong understanding of fandom culture and online communities.
- Experience writing features, profiles, or longform pieces (student media, personal blogs, or fan zines count too!)
- Strong written communication skills with great attention to detail
- You’re highly organised and a self-starter
- You have a pulse on fandom culture and a genuine interest in music, pop culture, and the communities that form around them
- You’ve got a background in writing, journalism, digital media, or community management
- Bonus points if you’ve contributed to That Fangirl Life or similar fan-led platforms before!
- Be part of a passionate, supportive team making space for unheard voices in fandom
- Have access to a network of over 150 contributors to help you grow, develop and hone your craft.
- Flexible, remote-first working that fits around your life and other commitments
- A chance to build experience in digital media and journalism
