Surveyor / Estimator

Property Services Division
Gloucester (site, office & hybrid working)
Permanent | Competitive Salary + Package

Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Surveyor / Estimator to join their established and profitable Property Services Division.

About the Role

The Property Services Division specialises in insurance loss repair and reinstatement works, including projects arising from floods, fires, escapes of water, lightning strikes, and building defects. Projects are delivered across a diverse range of sectors including:

  • Domestic properties
  • Multi-occupancy residential
  • Educational buildings
  • Industrial premises
  • Commercial properties

Projects are secured through both negotiation and competitive tender, with values typically ranging from:

  • £10,000 - £500,000 (tendered and negotiated projects)
  • £20,000 - £100,000 (measured term / schedule of rates works)
Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing estimates for tendered and negotiated projects
  • Measuring works on site and from drawings
  • Calculating quantities and building up net cost estimates
  • Compiling and submitting quotations
  • Negotiating and agreeing contract sums
  • Preparing monthly valuations and final account forecasts
  • Pricing and agreeing variations
  • Preparing interim and final accounts
  • Procuring and negotiating subcontract packages
  • Placing subcontract orders and attending pre-order meetings
  • Checking, processing, and agreeing subcontract payments and variations
  • Attending site and internal team meetings
  • Maintaining accurate project records and documentation
  • Providing commercial and contractual support to colleagues
  • Recording photographic evidence before, during, and after works
About You
  • Qualified Surveyor / Estimator (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Able to use initiative with minimal supervision

Ideally, you will live within approximately 45 minutes of Gloucester. The role includes travel to sites, office attendance, and some home working flexibility.
