Job Description & How to Apply Below
We're looking for a Senior Planner to join our highly regarded Construction South division, based out of our Weybridge office, with hybrid working available (three days office/site and two days working remotely). Including some travel to our project sites and occasional visits to our Farnborough and Dartford offices as required.
Working closely with preconstruction, new business and operational teams, you'll take ownership of producing evidence based tender programmes and developing them through PCSA into fully validated contract programmes.
This role requires a well-rounded commercial construction planner who understands the full construction lifecycle, not just planning software… Someone who can build programmes from first principles using drawings, technical reports and supply chain input, while ensuring customer value and delivery certainty are at the forefront.
* NB. We'll also consider a high-calibre Planner ready to step up into a senior level position.
Key Responsibilities:
Preconstruction & Tender Planning
Develop detailed tender programmes from first principles using drawings, surveys and technical reports (ground investigations, logistics constraints, traffic management, ecology, asbestos etc.).
Ensure all programmes are realistic, auditable and based on known outputs or validated supply chain information.
Prepare planning narratives, method statements and tender planning information for adjudication.
Support bid teams by advising on programme risks, opportunities and the impact of design changes.
Present programmes confidently at post-tender interviews where required.
Programme Development & Delivery
Develop tender programmes through preconstruction into fully validated contract programmes.
Support operational teams in developing delivery programmes for live projects.
Track and monitor programme progress and provide clear reporting and advice.
Gather as-built information to support benchmarking and productivity analysis.
Logistics, Temporary Works & Buildability
Produce detailed site logistics plans using Bluebeam, including cranage, scaffolding, hoists and temporary services.
Understand temporary works requirements and seek relevant supply chain input and quotations.
Ensure programmes reflect buildability, phasing, site constraints and safe delivery.
Collaboration & Innovation
Work closely with preconstruction teams, site teams and supply chain partners to validate programmes.
Identify opportunities for alternative construction methods, MMC and value engineering.
Support digital construction initiatives, including 4D planning and emerging technologies.
Mentor and support less experienced planners where appropriate.
Essential
Skills:
Solid and proven experience as a Senior Planner within the commercial construction sector.
Proven experience producing tender and preconstruction programmes for complex projects.
Strong understanding of the full building lifecycle and site operations.
Advanced user of ASTA Power project (essential).
Ability to create programmes from first principles rather than relying on templates.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
Skills:
Experience using Primavera P6 (highly beneficial).
Operational background in site management or engineering.
Experience working on projects between £10m and £100m.
Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management or a related discipline.
