Sr. Estimator - Building Group

Kiewit Building Group is looking for a Project Estimator that can assist the estimating team with various estimates more than $30 million for vertical buildings in the markets of commercial, education, sports, healthcare, mixed use, multifamily, and government installations.

Kiewit Building Group specializes in vertical construction, we build office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, government buildings, science and technology facilities, retail and special-use facilities, and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Our capabilities include all facets of construction and engineering including general contracting, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development.

This position will be based out Kiewit Building Group's office in Federal Way, WA.

• Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs.
• Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate.
• Reviewing and assisting with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates.
• Reviews all bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions.
• Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present.
• Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry.
• Become proficient in Kiewit’s estimating program, “InEight Estimate”.
• Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection process.
• Consult with owners on various problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or construction-related technology, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above.
• 5+ years' related experience.
• Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with complex Vertical Building projects.
• Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to perform duties in wide-ranging physical and climatic conditions, heights and negotiation of complex stair structures.
