Overview
Traveling Construction Materials Technician II % travel across the Southeast division (Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, coastal Georgia). Conduct field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials and communicate results to project managers. Opportunity for career growth in high‑profile projects nationwide.
Essential Responsibilities- Perform field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel) as directed.
- Document findings and results in written and digital reports, submit daily transmittals to the Terracon Project Manager.
- Transport material samples with identifying documentation to the laboratory for analysis.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards, perform pre‑task planning, report safety issues.
- Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F‑150 or equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of materials testing experience.
- Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- ACI Certification in one or more of the following areas:
Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician. - Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- NICET Level II certification in Construction Materials Testing (asphalt, concrete, soils).
- NICET Level II certification in Geotechnical categories (construction, laboratory, exploration, generalist).
- ICC certification in reinforced concrete, spray‑applied fireproofing, structural masonry, prestressed/post‑tensioned concrete, structural steel – bolting/welding.
- AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector.
- ASNT Level II certification in visual testing, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, radiographic, ultrasonic testing.
- Other materials related certifications as deemed appropriate.
salary range $19.50–$27.50 per hour, adjusted based on location and qualifications.
