Transportation Technicians​/CEI Inspectors

Overview

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is hiring Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (All Levels) to join our group around the Asheboro area. While you'll be assigned to a home office, most positions report directly to the field/project.

Position involves performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.

• Daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts
• Project field book preparation and documentation
• Density log book preparation and documentation
• Material sampling and testing
• Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimates package
• Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout
• Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations
• Observe work in progress to ensure procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications
• Obtains and prepares material samples for laboratory testing
• Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accepts installation
• Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods
• Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities

• Receives general instructions regarding assignments and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems
• Assists Senior Inspectors and/or Project Administrator with completion of specific tasks and assists in all phases of the construction project
• Responsible for preparing backup documentation for progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration

• High school graduate with four (4+) years experience in construction inspection, one (1+) year of which shall have been in roadway or bridge construction inspection
• AAS Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years experience; with at least one (1+) year roadway construction inspection experience
• Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required
• Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects)
• Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime (Hourly)
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed to perform your assigned task
