This Position is Eligible for a $2000.00 Hiring Incentive
The Home Based Child Care Early Learning Specialist is responsible for an assigned caseload of 6-8 childcare providers. Delivering in-person services twice weekly, the Early Learning Specialist's role is to deliver educational books and toys and model behaviors that empower providers to promote the development of the verbal, cognitive, and social-emotional skills that are critical for children’s school readiness and long-term school success.
Duties include:
travel to homes throughout Onondaga County for the visits; participate in weekly staff meetings, as well as individual supervision meetings and professional development opportunities as they are offered; assist site coordinator with recruitment of families; attend networking/community events; complete developmental screenings – record data and refer to community resources based on needs. While making sure to collect data completely with attention to detail and punctuality in their reporting as required by the Parent Child+ Program and Catholic Charities of Onondaga County.
This Position is Full Time at 35 hours a week, 10 months a year. Pay is $18.50 per Hour
QualificationsEducation and/or Experience Required at Entry:
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Up to 2 years of experience working with young children and/or families
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
- Experience may include daycare, in-home childcare, nanny, or former program participant
- Knowledge of child development and familiarity with community resources
- Home visiting experience preferred
- Bilingual/multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
- Former program participants are encouraged to apply
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to share language, life experiences, culture, and community with the families. Basic computer skills and specialized training or coursework related to the position.
Licenses/Certifications/Clearances:
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Registered and insured vehicle
- NYS Child Abuse Registry Clearance
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:
- Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at clients' homes and/or community facilities that may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals. Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
