Job Summary: The Building Community Partnerships Supervisor is to locate existing and develop new support services, activities, and resources that meet the specific needs of the client/families served. This includes, but is not limited to: after school programs; extracurricular activities in conjunction with local schools;
Fatherhood involvement activities;
Grandparent raising grandchildren support; children’s workshops; recreational activities for youth and children involved in the child welfare system; youth support groups; and mentoring and tutorial support services.
- Hire, train and monitor Parent Partner activities.
- Identify, recruit, and retain community stakeholders to become collaborative members for the BCP.
- Recruit and train community representatives for the purpose of attending Family Team Meetings at the request of DHS.
- Conduct community forums, Child Abuse Prevention Trainings, Building Community Partnership (BCP) meetings and focus groups to promote awareness of BCP.
- Collaborate with DHS to provide training and mentoring services to potential and existing resource parents.
- Facilitate support groups for both birth parents and foster parents monthly.
- Manage program specific assistance funds.
- Submit monthly and other reports as required.
- Participate in required trainings.
- Attend all scheduled team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with children and families with multiple problems and an overall ability to relate to and engage with families at risk and in crisis.
- An understanding of current and appropriate parenting skills and life skills.
- Knowledge of child welfare policies and programs, family therapy theories, treatment philosophies, and strategies of home-based services.
- Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

- A bachelor’s degree in the field of human services is required, preferably in social work.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License, appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.
- Works in an office environment and in the community as needed.
- Possible stressful environment working with families and court system.
- Non-traditional hours occur often due to the need for evening and weekend visitation, events, and trainings, etc.
- Fast paced, enthusiastic and team oriented workplace.
Sitting and standing for extended periods of time. May require some lifting.
