About the RoleThis post will support social workers to undertake thorough community family assessments, and where appropriate complete these, of children and prepare any necessary and relevant reports, and undertake reviews (as relevant) and specific pieces of work identified within the assessment including;
- To undertake parenting support and assessment programme with families experiencing significant difficulties.
- To undertake direct work with children and young people to meet their identified need.
- To complete parenting assessments to assess the ability of carer's being able to meet the child's long-term needs, this could be where there are concerns regarding a child's welfare in their parents care or when we are in care proceedings needing to assess if the child could return to their parent's care.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

About YouTo apply for this post, you must have / be able to:
A Level 3 childcare qualification (NNEB / NVQ3) or equivalent.
- Be able to promote parenting skills through group work and to contribute to a programme of group work with parents experiencing difficulty in managing their children.
- Advise, guide and train parents in managing household affairs, practical child care tasks, and other means of providing for the care of children. This may involve flexible work patterns including early mornings, early evenings and occasionally weekends.
- To make observations with regard to the standards of care, and participate fully in the identification of possible abuse/injury/neglect of children and provide reports on such observations to social workers.
- To supervise, observe and monitor contact visits when parents are visiting children who are looked after when appropriate to assessment.
- To attend Case Conferences, Core group, Pre‑Proceedings and other meetings as the worker involved with the family.
- To maintain accurate and up‑to‑date manual and electronic records as required by the department.
You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
