This role is part of the Children and Learning Service in Southampton, working within the Jigsaw, Children with Disabilities team, which provides coordinated assessment, holistic care planning and therapeutic intervention for children and young people with multiple and complex disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide statutory social work services to children and families with disabilities and look‑after children.
- Deliver a child and young person centred service, carrying out assessments, care planning and ongoing support.
- Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with children, families and relevant professionals.
- Advocate for children’s needs, ensuring safeguarding, safety and permanence are central to practice.
- Work collaboratively with health and social care partners, including domestic abuse, substance use and mental health practitioners.
- Engage in reflective practice, supportive supervision and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Diploma or Degree in social work and registration with Social Work England.
- Experience of statutory social work, preferably with children with disabilities or look‑after children.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Children and Families Act) and safeguarding principles.
- Trauma‑informed, compassionate and evidence‑based approach to family support.
- Ability to work flexibility: 23–26 hours per week (26 hours Tuesday‑Friday or 23 hours Wednesday‑Friday).
Salary band: £41,771 – £46,141 per annum, pro rata. The starting salary is £41,771 with annual progression.
Hours:
Part‑time – 23 to 26 hours per week.
