Job SummaryWe are seeking a Global Category Manager to join our team here in Wilmington, DE. This is an individual contributor role and will be responsible for developing and executing global category strategies for key Indirect spend categories.
This is an onsite position. Team members work 4 days onsite with 1 day of remote work. Candidates should live within a commutable distance to the site.
The role is accountable for:- Global category strategy development, and ownership
- Leading global category teams (through influence) to execute/implement strategies
- Supplier relationship leadership
- Acting as the lead buyer on major negotiations and contracts
The position requires strong global business acumen, senior stakeholder engagement, advanced negotiation capability, and the ability to influence across regions and business/functional units.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Develop multi-year global category strategies incorporating business/function objectives, to deliver cost savings, sound sourcing policies, supplier portfolio strategies, and governance models for the categories.
- Use advanced market intelligence, benchmarking, cost modeling, and industry analysis to identify value creation opportunities.
- Be the Subject Matter Expert for assigned categories. Communicate category performance, risks, opportunities, and market updates to senior management
- Lead global category teams (through influence), ensure full alignment across the teams, as well as with business/function stakeholders.
- Serve as the lead Buyer for major spend areas, or major suppliers, for assigned categories.
- Lead global SRM programs with key suppliers, including performance monitoring, cost optimization, innovation, and engagement plans.
- Ensure robust contract implementation, compliance, and performance tracking across assigned categories.
- Enable process automation, digital procurement tools, and standardized buying channels.
- Drive continuous improvement using data-driven insights and KPIs.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of procurement experience with at least 5 years in category management.
- Proven experience leading high-value, global Indirect procurement categories.
- Demonstrated excellence in negotiation and contracting.
- Strong financial and analytical capability.
- Team player, with high level of integrity, resilience and composure under pressure.
- Proven track record of data driven stakeholder influence and relationship management at senior levels within a global corporation.
Preferred:
- Experience in manufacturing, chemicals, industrials, automotive, or electronics.
- Experience with digital procurement systems and AI technologies.
- CIPS/ISM or similar certification.
