Job Description and Duties
Would you like to engage in a mix of analytical tasks and provide expert testimony? If so, the Disability Evaluation Unit (DEU) at the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) is hiring a Workers' Compensation Consultant! DIR monitors the administration of workers’ compensation claims and provides services to assist resolving disputes with claims for workers’ compensation benefits.
As the newest DEU Rater, you will review and analyze medical reports to issue summary, consultative and formal permanent disability ratings, and will calculate commutations involving present value of future permanent disability indemnity.
This is a full journey level position, and you will be expected to calculate ratings and commutations of high complexity. As the DEU Rater, you will be an expert resource to the workers' compensation community on permanent disability rating. Hybrid and flexible work schedules are available with remote work being available up to two days per week.
Will also consider a Workers’ Compensation Assistant.

Qualifications- You have a strong affinity for quantitative analysis, appreciating the intricacies of all things numbers, calculations, and percentages.

Working ConditionsThis position is located at: 320 W. 4th Street, 9th floor, Los Angeles, CA . The incumbent will work 40 hours per week in an office setting equipped with standard office equipment. Air conditioned, in a high-rise building with elevator access, cubicle with natural and artificial lighting. The Los Angeles office is located in the historic Junipero Serra Building, walking distance to major Metro bus and subway stations.
