Position: Proposal Development Coordinator Intern - Summer Recruitment MD,DC,VA (Remote)

Resp & Qualifications

PURPOSE:

This intern position resides within the Business Development Team, part of the larger Enterprise Sales Division at Care First Blue Cross Blue Shield. Ideally this opportunity would run as a year-round internship program
. The ideal candidate is someone who can work throughout the year up to 15-20 hours in the Fall/Spring AND full time (35-40 hours) in the summer. The anticipated start date for this internship opportunity would be January 2026.

This team is responsible for the development, management, and submission of all requests for proposal (RFPs) for new and existing business sales. The team works collaboratively with other business areas and subject matter experts (SMEs), including Sales Consultants and Underwriting across all products and offerings.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES
  • Coordinate and prepare sales proposals
  • Write responses to RFPs and questionnaires
  • Distribute contact documents to SMEs seeking responses and input
  • Provide crucial quality reviews of final proposal packages prior to submission
  • Assist with management of content database and coordination of SME reviews
  • Utilize Microsoft Office suite to track and report RFP volumes/activity, wins, and other relevant data/trends
  • Assist with administrative tasks, include template creation/maintenance, file organization, etc.
  • Seek to learn and understand insurance products in depth
  • Attend various meetings and participate in team activities
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc assignments, as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education Level: This position requires an individual working towards a Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University.
  • Experience:

    Rising Junior or Senior Undergraduate student targeting majors in Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Journalism, or Communications with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks with deadlines
  • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities
  • Sound organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deliverables
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively interface with and establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)

Salary Range: $18,720 - $26,000

The hire range posted is an annual rate. All intern positions will be paid hourly.
