About the Hiring GroupThe role falls within the Growth Unit (Public Sector), which manages how RTI pursues, wins, and grows our project portfolio across U.S., state, local, and foreign governments, and foundations, in collaboration with technical staff across the organization.
What You’ll DoRTI’s Business Development (BD) Team is seeking qualified candidates for a full‑time Senior BD Analyst to support the Department of War (DoW) market. The Senior BD Analyst will support RTI’s DoW Strategic Account Executives during the business development life cycle with pipeline management, opportunity vetting, competitive intelligence, partnering, and client communication needs. This position reports to the Director, Proposal Analytics and Intelligence while working closely with the DoW Strategic Account Executives to build a strong pipeline and increase awards that further RTI’s mission of improving the human condition.
This is a US‑based remote position; local candidates within commuting distance to an RTI office (RTP, NC or DC) may be preferred.
- Develop a thorough understanding of RTI’s capabilities, competitive landscape, and market to inform business development efforts.
- Possess a working knowledge of key DoW agencies, their mission, contracting mechanisms, and key relationships, with an emphasis on agencies with research, development, test, and evaluation functions.
- Proactively monitor, identify, vet, and develop potential opportunities associated with the DoW market.
- Responsible for pipeline management in Salesforce and facilitate pipeline review meetings.
- Collaborate with other BD analysts, Growth Integration Leads, Impact Domain Leads, and business development partners across the organization for information exchange and cross‑functional value.
- Spearhead knowledge management needs regarding opportunity tracking and management, potential partners, as well as other business development operations.
- Facilitate and direct meetings with internal technical teams, clients, partners, and competitors during business development meetings, as needed.
- Attend conferences and networking opportunities for business development, as needed.
- Perform research to map DoW priorities and contracting opportunities to RTI’s capabilities.
- Analyze competitive industry trends and conduct business intelligence to assist with producing business landscape status reports for the DoW market.
- Develop templates and repeatable tools for client needs.
- Act as a subject matter expert for triangulating competitive intelligence by analyzing spending data and client/competitor news.
- Organize meetings with internal and external stakeholders regarding opportunity development.
- Identify partners and conduct investigative conversations with them.
- Draft communication, develop presentation materials, record meeting notes, and document findings.
- Conduct ad‑hoc tasks and projects relating to business development and competitive intelligence activities.
- Propose and implement new enhancements or procedures within your job function.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of related professional experience or Master’s degree and 3 years of related professional experience.
- Experience working within the DoW federal contracting space, whether directly or as a contractor.
