Position: Donor Network West Summer Intern

Donor Network West’s mission is to save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation and research.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Donor Network West Internship Program is an immersive nine-week initiative designed to provide university students with a thorough understanding of our operations, emphasizing the vital role of organ and tissue donation. We aim to offer hands-on experience across various departments, including Finance, Mar Com, Foundation, BIDS, IT, Quality, Admin/Risk, and People Services.

PROGRAM DURATION
  • Program Duration:
    June 15, 2026 - August 14, 2026
  • University students majoring in business management, hospital administration, finance, marketing, human resources, or similar fields.
  • Paid part-time internship
  • Non-benefited

* $4500 stipend for the whole program.

PROGRAM STRUCTUREWeek 1 (June 15th to June 18th)
  • Off-cycle New Hire Orientation:
  • Interns will be introduced to Donor Network West's core values, mission, and the basics of organ and tissue donation.
Weeks 2-9 (June 30 to August 14)
  • Department Rotations:
  • Students will rotate through each department or team group for one week.
  • Interns will have dedicated desks or work areas and are required to be on-site for all work.
  • Finance:
    Focus on financial management and budgeting.
  • Marketing &Communications (Mar Com):

    Engage in promotional strategies and public relations.
  • Foundation:
    Expose and engage interns in fundraising initiatives and building brand awareness.
  • Business Intelligence and Data Services (BIDS):
    Analyze data and support decision-making processes.
  • Information Technology (IT):
    Assist with techsupport and systems management.
  • Quality:
    Participate in quality assurance and compliance activities.
  • Administration & Risk:
    Learn about organizational policies and risk management.
  • HR:
    Explore HR practices and employee engagement
  • Payroll:
    Demonstrate best practice for running organizational payroll and inform interns of associated state and federal regulations.
  • Recruiting and Compensation:
    Understand talent sourcing and screening and organizational compensation philosophies.
  • Safety:
    Inform interns of organizational safety programs and standards with a focus on state and federal safety regulations.
  • Education Programs:
    Provide organizational overview of education programs, curricula, and learning technologies.
  • Organizational Development:
    Provide organizational overview of employee engagement and professional development programs.
PROJECTS
  • Departmental Projects: Interns will engage in projects tailored to each department. Options include a collaborative project spanning the internship or individual projects for each department rotation.
  • Capstone Project: Throughout the program, interns will complete a capstone project integrating their cross-departmental experiences and aligning with their academic and career goals.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
  • The weekly schedule consists of Monday through Thursday, 9am-4:30pm, with biweekly Friday professional development seminars.
  • The final Capstone presentations will take place on the last Friday of the internship.
  • Remote work, travel, or alternate location work is not available.
  • Summer Interns are not allowed to perform clinical tasks or operate in clinical areas.

Donor Network West takes a market-based approach to pay. All candidates' starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications and interview performance.
