Position SummaryThe Procurement Manager is responsible for managing all purchasing activities for the company, including supplier sourcing, cost negotiation, and purchase order management. This role ensures the timely procurement of raw materials, packaging, and other operational inputs required to support production while optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance.
This is a hands‑on individual contributor role responsible for executing procurement strategy, maintaining supplier relationships, and supporting operational continuity in a fast‑paced consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchasing
- Manage the end‑to‑end purchasing process including purchase order creation, issuance, and tracking.
- Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, packaging components, and other operational supplies.
- Works closely with the planning manager to convert material requisitions into purchase orders
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation within company systems.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to support cost, quality, and supply continuity goals.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure reliability and performance.
- Monitor supplier performance including pricing, quality, lead times, and service levels.
Negotiation & Cost Management
- Lead supplier negotiations to achieve favorable pricing, payment terms, and contract conditions.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost of goods through sourcing strategy, supplier consolidation, and contract renegotiation.
- Support company margin improvement initiatives through effective cost management.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Partner with operations, production, finance, and logistics teams to ensure procurement aligns with demand forecasts and operational needs.
- Provide visibility to leadership on supply risks, cost trends, and procurement performance.
- Support new product launches by sourcing new materials and suppliers as needed.
Risk & Supply Continuity
- Identify potential supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain backup suppliers or sourcing strategies where appropriate.
- Monitor market conditions that may impact material availability or pricing.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–8+ years of procurement, purchasing, or sourcing experience.
- Experience negotiating pricing and supplier contracts.
- Strong understanding of purchase order management and supplier coordination.
- Experience working with ERP Systems, preferably Net Suite.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, manufacturing, or retail products.
