Job Description

Vice President, Business Development

The most important role of Business Development is to drive new business growth and strategic partnerships for the agency. This position leads efforts to identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities while nurturing organic growth from existing clients. The VP advocates the agency’s capabilities in the marketplace, builds relationships with prospective clients, and positions Medium Giant as a strategic partner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Business Development team to identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities aligned with agency capabilities and strategic objectives.
  • Develop compelling RFP responses and pitch presentations that showcase agency capabilities, case studies, and strategic insights.
  • Collaborate with creative, strategy, and account teams to craft winning proposals.
  • Manage and track the new business pipeline, including prospect database, opportunity stages, win/loss analysis, and revenue forecasts.
  • Negotiate contracts and fees with marketing directors and client procurement personnel.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships and industry relationships to expand the agency’s network and create referral opportunities.
  • Report new business pipeline metrics, win rates, and revenue projections to agency leadership.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to evaluate and optimize work processes.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant market trends affecting agency accounts and developments in the broader advertising and communications industry.
Collaboration & Reporting
  • Report to the President of the Agency and participate on the Agency Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate internally with the Agency Leadership team, Client Leadership, Creative, Integrated Strategy & Media, Hearst Marketing Services, Human Resources, and Finance.
  • Engage externally with client marketing teams, including Marketing Directors, client procurement personnel, other agency partners, and new business opportunity contacts.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of advertising/marketing experience with at least eight years in business development.
  • Experience in a hybrid/remote work environment with a preference for on‑site presence opportunities.
