BASIC FUNCTIONThought leadership position for an experienced sustainability professional with demonstrated success integrating sustainability concepts and tools within one or more organizations that design and manufacture goods for B2B and/or B2C applications. Drawing on this experience, together with proficiency in leveraging life cycle assessment (LCA)-based sustainability methodology and data for business applications, this role will advise existing and prospective clients in success visioning, sustainability strategy and programming development, and advancing relationships and agreements to achieve the same, while fostering internal relationships and skillsets that support better client outcomes.

- True North Collective - Organization Relationships:
Frequent contact with the complete True North team of sustainability professionals. - External Business Relationships:
Client (manufacturer, trade association) leadership and dedicated sustainability staff, strategic partners, and other functional roles within businesses including manufacturing operations, product and process development teams, environmental compliance, and procurement.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in a leadership role charged with integrating a sustainability lens within multiple key business processes (ex. operations, product development, procurement)
- 7-10 years of progressive work experience related to sustainability practices and frameworks such as LCA, carbon accounting, and corporate reporting
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited engineering, engineering technology or environmental science program; or bachelor’s degree in a related field with successful completion of the EIT exam or a PE license.
- Highly organized in data management and use of MS office applications
- Experienced within cross‑functional project teams in a remote environment
- Comfort working across industries and organizational cultures, including mid‑size firms and complex, large organizations.
- Experience in a product design/engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or finance role
- Master’s degree in technical or business functions
- Proven business development success in a consulting or professional services environment, including pipeline development, proposal leadership, and closing client engagements
- Experience with contract negotiations, including Master Service Agreements
