Position: SWS ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR (Junior Administrative Officer) - Range 12 / AMEA

Job Information

This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
  • Under the general supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor, this position performs as a lead for the Customer Service department.
  • Oversee daily activities of the code enforcement work group, oversee daily work processed by account representatives for accuracy, resolve customer complaints and requests of a difficult or complex nature.
  • Provides support in performing banking functions, scheduling assistance, and assuming on-call duties on a rotating basis.
  • Guide and instruct account representatives in decision-making situations of complex nature relating to customer service.
  • Conduct load assessments to apply and charge appropriate fees based upon MOA Ordinances.
  • Leads account representative employees through guidance and instruction of customer service work.
  • Duties include after-hours on-call coverage, by phone, for schedule modifications due to callouts or emergencies, and for booth transactions questions.
  • SWS Administrative Lead is the multi-skilled, lead level of the SWS Account Representative I, II, III series.
  • Incumbents are cross trained to work in all the customer service units in the Administration Building and at the four disposal sites.
  • Incumbents at this level may train employees in the I, II, III levels of the SWS Account Representative class series.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in the field related to the position.

  • State of Alaska Driver's License and Full Driving Record at time of hire.
