The Program Administrator III (Boxing and MMA Event Compliance Specialist) supports agency leadership in regulating and overseeing all amateur and professional combat sports in Arizona. This role ensures compliance with state laws and rules to protect participant safety, event integrity, and public confidence, while managing licensing, administrative reporting, and Commission meeting coordination in support of the agency’s mission.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. - The Program Administrator III supports the Arizona Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts Commission by overseeing and attending all state‑approved amateur and professional combat sports events. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and rules to protect participant safety, event integrity, and the public interest, while maintaining clear communication with leadership on all Commission activities.
Assist with various administrative functions, including the licensing of combatants, promoters, matchmakers, managers, judges, inspectors, referees, physicians, timekeepers, seconds, cutmen, trainers, ring announcers, and amateur sanctioning organizations. Supervision of staff. - Oversee and assist with licensing daily reconciliation, the collection of licensing fees, event fees, fines, tax levies, and accounting, as well as the preparation of required financial reports. Ensure promoter packets are complete. Review professional combatant contracts to confirm they are accurate and properly executed. Verify the accuracy of fighter payment forms and ensure all event‑related debts are paid by the promoter.
- Contact, schedule, and assign duties and responsibilities to selected event officials. Ensure the Commission has adequate regulatory staff at each event to protect the health and safety of the combatants and the public. Set up licensing stations at event locations, conduct weigh‑ins, receive and review medical examination reports, order necessary boxing/MMA supplies, and develop and conduct or participate in trainings for officials.
- Additionally, responsible for preparing Commission meeting notices, agendas, and supporting materials for all regular and special meetings. Evaluate fighters that are turning pro, require skill evaluation or are changing disciplines.
Execute other duties as assigned by the Department of Gaming, consistent with the scope of the major responsibilities and essential functions outlined above.
Knowledge:
- Thorough knowledge of A.R.S. Title 5, Chapter 2, Arizona Boxing Statutes and Title 19, Chapter 2, Article 6 Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts Administrative Rules.
- Knowledge of National Boxing and MMA guidelines, Federal law's, laws and rules of other states.
- Knowledge of the legislative process for statutory amendments as well as the rule making process.
- Considerable knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
