Position: Consultant - Retrofit Planning and Strategy (Intermediate or Senior)

Location: Remote (BC preferred; open to other Canadian locations for the right candidate)

Start Date: Early 2026

Salary Range: $80,000–$120,000, depending on level and experience

FRESCo is hiring a Consultant in Retrofit Planning & Strategy
, and we welcome applicants with experience suited to either the Intermediate or Senior level. This single posting allows you to explore both career paths and apply for the position that best matches your background.

What You’ll Do (Both Levels)
  • Contribute to building retrofit market‑transformation research and strategy projects.
  • Conduct stakeholder engagement, including interviews, surveys, and facilitated workshops.
  • Translate technical and financial analysis into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Produce high‑quality writing: reports, memos, case studies, presentations, and educational content.
  • Collaborate with engineers, policy specialists, designers, and research team members.
  • Support additional FRESCo projects and emerging company needs.
  • Manage work streams or components of larger projects or handle smaller projects independently.
  • Conduct research, data analysis, literature scans, and comparative studies.
  • Draft client deliverables with guidance from senior team members.
  • Coordinate tasks, schedules, risk logs, and documentation.
  • Support proposal writing and business development
  • Build confidence and subject‑matter expertise across multiple retrofit topics.
What You Bring (Intermediate)
  • 4–6 years of experience in building retrofit strategy, decarbonization, energy efficiency, or related fields.
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Comfort managing tasks and supporting elements of complex projects.
  • Familiarity with retrofit technologies, market barriers, and policy environments.
  • Proficiency with Excel, analytical work, and use of AI tools for productivity.
  • Adaptability and interest in expanding your expertise.
  • Independently lead and deliver complex, multi‑workstream projects, ensuring high‑quality delivery.
  • Shape research methodology, project framing, and client strategy.
  • Facilitate sophisticated stakeholder processes (workshops, round tables, multi‑party sessions).
  • Own client relationships, present findings, and guide decision‑makers.
  • Develop implementation roadmaps, senior‑level briefs, and advanced written deliverables.
  • Lead proposals
    , pricing, and win strategies
  • Provide quality assurance and elevate templates, methods, and internal standards.
What You Bring (Senior)
  • 8+ years in retrofit planning, policy/strategy consulting, or energy program design.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage complexity, and advise clients confidently.
  • Deep understanding of electrification, retrofit technologies, implementation challenges, and market barriers.
  • Advanced communication skills, including executive‑level writing and presentation.
  • Proven success in business development and proposal leadership.
  • Ability to coach and develop team members.
