Procurement Specialist - Tactical
Location: Hybrid – Fredericksburg, VA 22401 (Up to 50% travel)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000 – $75,000 per year
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Specialist to join our team. This hybrid position involves sourcing products, suppliers, and technical documentation to support our government contracting efforts.
The right candidate will play a key role in responding to RFQs and RFPs from federal, state, and local agencies, managing relationships with vendors, and ensuring compliance with government procurement regulations. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in procurement, government contracting, and vendor relations, who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesSource products, suppliers, and technical documentation to support responses to RFQs and RFPs from government agencies (federal, state, local)
Solicit and organize pricing, lead times, and availability from manufacturers and distributors
Track and analyze contract requirements, product specifications, and compliance needs
Collaborate with internal proposal teams to ensure timely submission of quotes and bid packages
Maintain and strengthen vendor and supplier relationships, ensuring ongoing support for pricing strategies and product updates
Assist in developing strategic alliances with OEMs, distributors, and service providers aligned with government contracting objectives
Support internal databases of sourcing contacts, pricing histories, and bid documentation
Support business development by coordinating meetings with prospective partners
Recruit vendors and ensure support for strategic partnerships for future government requirements
1–3 years of experience in procurement, government contracting, or vendor relations (preferred)
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to sell yourself
Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, or federal procurement processes (a plus)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and procurement tools (e.g., Gov Win, SAM.gov, GSA eBuy)
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% for client meetings, presentations, and business development activities
Experience with government contracts, RFQ/RFP responses, and compliance
Knowledge of strategic sourcing practices and vendor relationship management
Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams

Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in procurement, government contracting, or vendor relations (preferred)
