Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled and domain-fluent Hospital Operations Data Analyst to support strategic decision-making through deep analysis of surgical scheduling data across multiple Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This role is critical to optimizing OR utilization, improving scheduling workflows, and informing leadership on key performance indicators (KPIs), process improvements, and system design.

In this role you will:

  • Assist with validation of extracted, clean, and harmonized scheduling data from multiple EHR platforms (e.g., Meditech, Meditech Expanse, Cerner, Epic).
  • Support Data Engineers with validation of data sourced from pipelines that support real-time and retrospective analysis.
  • Analyze OR scheduling patterns, utilization rates, block time efficiency, and cancellation trends.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for operational and clinical leadership.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine KPIs related to OR scheduling and throughput.
  • Design and build end-user solutions for KPI reporting using Power BI, ensuring intuitive and actionable dashboards tailored to leadership needs.
  • Provide recommendations for system configuration and workflow redesign based on data findings.
  • Partner with IT and clinical teams to ensure data integrity and alignment with operational goals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in OR scheduling processes, including block scheduling, case prioritization, and surgeon preferences.
  • Understand how scheduling data flows through EHR systems and impacts downstream operations.
