Senior Manager, Business Development & Key Accounts – Waukesha Bearings
Location:
Waukesha, WI – remote (100%) with up to 50% travel within the United States. Department:
Business Development.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities by researching territory, revisiting dormant accounts, and prospecting new customers.
- Screen and qualify prospects that align with the company’s strategy, then support them through pre‑sales, negotiation, and post‑sale phases.
- Improve business processes and practices to expand market share and growth.
- Understand major customers’ market drivers and strategy, and provide feedback to inform corporate growth plans.
- Monitor market conditions and competition to maximize business opportunities.
- Collaborate with operations and other functions to develop, implement, and drive strategies for customer success and satisfaction; drive customer engagement organization‑wide.
- Coach and mentor less tenured team members.
- Build deep relationships with customers’ management, procurement, and engineering staff.
- Develop and execute pricing and technical strategies that deliver a well‑defined value proposition.
- Position the company as a trusted advisor and value provider rather than a commodity supplier.
- Secure new opportunities by understanding customer needs and overseeing solution delivery with engineering support, including in‑person presentations and coordination with other departments.
- Provide regular and insightful customer and market feedback to the management team for business and market planning.
- Maintain awareness of competitive landscape and implement appropriate pricing strategies.
- Regularly acquire and submit forecast information based on customer business indicators and planning.
- Utilize lean techniques for process/workflow improvement to continually enhance service delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 15+ years in business development roles within engineered products; preference for turbo machinery and OEM sales experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain business relationships to grow market share and achieve “Trusted Advisor” status.
- Technical knowledge of principles and methods for promoting products or services.
- Collaborative, high‑energy, and enthusiastic style with unquestioned integrity.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and consultative business development process management.
- Excellent organizational skills to meet goals and set priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including commercial data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Domestic travel up to 50% of the time.
- Experience in turbo machinery, rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.) or reciprocating compressor components; ideal industry experience includes Oil & Gas and/or Power Generation.
- Existing relationships with oil and gas, power generation, marine, or other industrial manufacturers.
- Experience in an environment of continuous improvement that includes tools such as process analysis, Kaizen, and Lean techniques.
Pay Range: $140,000 – $185,000. Bonus eligible. Remote work arrangement; up to 50% travel.
