In this position, you will offer technical guidance, support, and research while adhering to internal protocols to advance the objectives of the PA State Fire Academy Certification Department. You will collaborate with certification staff, contribute to the development of public-facing programs, process reports, enter data, ensure quality assurance, and manage submissions from external partners. You will also support initiatives including the Evaluator program, maintain relationships with Field Test Sites and Delegated Authorities, oversee testing and certification processes, and work on other assigned projects.

Strong communication skills, proficiency with standard office equipment and computing, organizational abilities, and the capacity to perform under pressure are essential. The role may require lifting, pushing, and pulling various office files and equipment as needed.

Work Details
  • Work schedule:

    Full-time, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Emergency or disaster situations or training exercises may require travel, extended shifts (up to 12 hours), and work outside normal hours, including weekends and overnights.
  • Telework:
    Opportunity to work from home part-time after a training period, subject to a secure high-speed internet connection and approved location in Pennsylvania. If telework is not available, reporting to the Lewistown headquarters is required. Telework availability is subject to change.
  • Salary:
    Starting annual salary for selected candidates new to Commonwealth employment is $59,345 (before taxes).

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of professional experience in planning, developing, coordinating, or promoting fire services, emergency management, or public safety programs; and a bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional experience in the planning, development, coordination, or promotion of fire services, emergency management, or public safety programs.
