Job Summary
beBeeRisk is hiring a Disaster Risk Management Specialist to support the NAIC's strategy on catastrophe and resilience. The role involves coordinating disaster initiatives, conducting research, and developing tools for insurance commissioners. A Master's degree and five years of relevant experience are required. The position is full-time and remote within the U.S., with some travel for member meetings.
Responsibilities- Coordinating disaster initiatives, including funding acquisition, policy development, program design and implementation, and performance management. Assists with benefit-cost analyses and feasibility studies for mitigation efforts.
- Conducting research to support state departments of insurance in developing and assessing the feasibility of resilience efforts, leveraging NAIC, state department, and industry data. Developing analytical tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enhance research production and conducting in-depth analysis of the fiscal impact of climate risk on insurance risk transfer programs.
- Assisting in developing communication, messaging, and educational tools to prepare a resilient industry workforce and policyholders for risk reduction and resilience activities. Collaborating with key stakeholders to create and maintain effective risk reduction and resilience messaging.
This position requires a Master's degree in business or a related field, as well as at least five years of financial services experience with a regulated entity or a governmental regulatory entity. The ideal candidate will have practical and technical knowledge about state, federal, and/or international financial services laws, rules, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in developing catastrophe risk resilience solutions and hazard mitigation programs.
- Experience utilizing CAT modeling outputs and hazard scenario analysis (including HAZUS).
The NAIC offers a competitive salary, ranging from $105,000 to $165,000, commensurate with education and experience. Additionally, the successful candidate will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time remote position within the United States, requiring regular travel to support member meetings and events throughout the year.
