Overview

The Senior Coordinator, Operations is responsible for performing duties related to Major League Soccer (MLS) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) Operations for MLS regular season, playoffs and marquee events. This role supports Matchday Control administration responsibilities while managing matchday interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Support all aspects of the Operations Department.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day management of the MLS Regular Season, SUM international events and Leagues Cup.
  • Play a significant role in Matchday Control responsibilities, including learning and applying matchday manual policies, preparing documentation and materials, evaluating matches in-office, reviewing live matches, and providing proactive support for all matchday issues.
  • Lead discussions on weather tools and platforms and resolve any matchday challenges related to inclement weather.
  • Plan and execute operational assignments for MLS and SUM events such as MLS All-Star, MLS Cup, Mex Tour and Leagues Cup.
  • Update and maintain operational documents, databases, and presentations.
  • Assist in finalizing Consultant, Temp Workers, and Vendor Contract Agreements.
  • Process vendor payments, review contracts, and reconcile budgets.
  • Manage the department’s equipment inventory, maintaining accurate records and ensuring material availability.
  • Track expenses and allocate budget codes for the department’s budget.
  • Prepare presentations for executives and department leaders.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise department interns and temporary employees, if applicable.
  • Assist in the management of tracking expenses and budget codes.
  • Travel up to 20% of the time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Sports Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in events and/or operations, preferably within the sports industry.
Required Skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare effective presentations.
  • Proven organization, project management, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, team building, and interpersonal skills.
  • High-level commitment to quality, organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team environment.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Smartsheet.
  • Capacity to multi‑task across multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel and to work non‑traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Desired Skills
  • Experience in sporting operations and execution.
  • Business proficiency in Spanish.
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer.
Total Rewards

Major League Soccer offers a competitive starting base salary of $62,400 - $68,000 based on individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs. Our Total Rewards package includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a $500 wellness reimbursement, generous PTO, and a hybrid office/remote work schedule to promote work‑life balance. Employees are required to work from an MLS office at least four days a week, with additional flexibility for remote work on Fridays and up to two additional remote flex days each month.
