Work Designation

Hybrid or Remote depending on location within continental US.

  • Within 50 miles of the Aflac offices in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC – hybrid. Expected to work in office at least 60% of the week; remaining time from home.
  • More than 50 miles from those offices – remote. Expected to work from home; occasional office visits may be requested.

What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, root cause analysis, and change management.
  • Proficiency in process improvement techniques, diagnostic and creative problem‑solving skills, and strong analytical, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge of project life cycle, business capabilities framework, and business process re‑engineering.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all organizational levels and collaborate with business unit customers, IT, and management.
  • Consultative skill set: problem identification, solution development, and gaining customer buy‑in.
  • Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and train project team members, analysts, and project managers.

Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Eight years of professional, job‑related experience in project, program or portfolio management, business analysis, process improvement, change management, documentation development, business process modeling, and/or leading complex projects with proven success.
  • Prior experience in a consultative or problem‑solving environment working with cross‑functional groups to implement projects.
  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt), or other comparable project management/quality certification; program management (PGMP) certification preferred.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Travel Requirement
  • Less than or equal to 10% travel.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the end‑to‑end management of multiple complex programs; oversee planning, execution, and delivery of strategic business and organizational objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to program management teams; maintain alignment of program scope with business objectives, recommend improvements, and ensure adherence to goals, timelines, and budget.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships; effectively communicate with key executives, cross‑functional teams, clients, and project management teams; clearly identify, develop, and inform on all goals, timelines, risks, and progress.
  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate program risks; evaluate methods of assessing strengths and improvement areas; monitor and assure that project work remains business‑feasible.
  • Manage organizational change associated with programs; anticipate and identify barriers, facilitate transitions, and develop solutions; identify opportunities for process and efficiency improvements; implement best practices and lessons learned; ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and contractual obligations; establish governance structures and controls.
