Job Purpose:

We are seeking a substantially experienced sales management professional to support our Preferred Consortium Partners and travel agents in the Canadian Market. As a National Sales Manager, you will be responsible for liaising with trade partners at all levels, ensuring support from key head office contacts and promoting the Railbookers and Amtrak Vacations brands to travel agents and their customers. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of wider department goals, cross‑functional impacts, and the company's operational landscape.

The successful candidate will work on complex problems, exercising discretionary judgment to resolve issues creatively while focusing on company objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Partnership Management and Business Development:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with consortium partners to increase Railbookers trade sales.

Conduct regular business review meetings with Consortia partners, communicating progress toward override targets.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts.

Participate in virtual and in‑person travel partner conferences, trade shows, and training events.

Sales Strategy and Performance:

Monitor the performance of travel agency and consortium partners on a weekly, monthly & yearly basis.

Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly communication goals in accordance with specified KPIs and performance guidelines.

Client Relations and Communication:

Make daily outbound calls to travel agent partners.

Conduct online and in‑person training presentations for travel agents and consumer webinars as needed.

Conduct joint consumer presentations and virtual travel talks to support the trade.

Ensure travel agent partners are kept up to date with the latest brand information, including itineraries, brochures, and product enhancements.

Problem‑Solving and Customer Service:

Intercept customer service issues from travel agents and work with the Guest Relations department to ensure prompt and satisfactory resolution.

Use creative concepts to resolve complex issues successfully, focusing on company objectives.

Leadership and Team

Collaboration:

Build productive and stable working relationships with internal functional teams and relevant cross‑functional stakeholders.

Actively seek diverse perspectives for continuous learning, feedback, and growth.

Qualifications

7+ years of proven inside and/or outside sales experience in the travel industry.

Demonstrated experience in partnership management or business development roles within a consumer‑focused industry.

Demonstrated experience in leading and managing high‑performing sales teams.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in a related field.

Proven success and skill in negotiating and closing business with accounts.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel or similar.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel for partner events and internal FAM trips (2‑7 days as needed).

The National Sales Manager (Canada) will work with high autonomy, potentially requiring some oversight for complex or strategic initiatives. This role demands the ability to analyze situations or data requiring in‑depth evaluation and knowledge, using creative concepts to resolve complex issues successfully. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sales, relationship building, and driving the growth of Railbookers Group brands in the Canadian market.
