JOB DESCRIPTION

The Manager of Institutional Review will report to the Associate Director of Accreditation and support the accreditation review process by evaluating institutional compliance with accreditation standards, policies, and procedures. This role involves conducting detailed analyses of substantive and non-substantive application submissions, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, preparing reports for commissions or committees, and maintaining ongoing processing and monitoring of applications and complaints.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring consistency, fairness, and integrity in the accreditation process. The Manager acts as a trusted liaison to institutions, evaluators, and internal stakeholders, upholding ABHES’s Core Values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. Other responsibilities include staying informed about accreditation issues in higher education and their potential impact, identifying compliance gaps, and recommending corrective actions.

This position is ideal for applicants with an interest in higher education and compliance.

Salary commensurate with experience, with an expected range of $75,000-$95,000. ABHES offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% company-paid medical/dental/vision benefits for employees, a 6% company match retirement contribution, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and more. While full-time remote work options may be considered for applicants residing outside of a reasonable commuting distance to the ABHES office, preference will be given to candidates located within a commutable distance.

Those within commuting range will be expected to follow a hybrid work schedule, reporting to the office three days per week. This arrangement is designed to facilitate collaboration, engagement with leadership, and teamwork with other ABHES staff members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management and processing of complaints.
  • Performing quality control on visit reports and correspondence to institutions, committee members, and commissioners for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Writing reports and correspondence, including action letters consequential to the Commission’s accreditation decisions.
  • Supporting ABHES committees in their efforts to improve ABHES policies through research, analysis, and administrative support.
  • Tracking and maintaining information about accredited institutions and programs.
  • Training other staff and schools in accreditation concepts and processes as needed.
  • Conducting accreditation peer review visits as needed. Travel frequency is, on average, once per month during visit travel cycles (February–April; August–October).
QUALIFICATIONS, DESIRED SKILLS, AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience in postsecondary education administration, accreditation, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or institutional effectiveness (5+ years preferred).
  • Experience in project management with proven organizational skills, managing multiple complex projects, managing deadlines, and ensuring deliverable accuracy (3+ years preferred).
  • A master’s degree, preferably in a field of education, higher education administration, leadership, or a related field from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of contemporary accreditation or higher education matters (e.g., distance learning, data analytics, institutional research, workforce initiatives, or similar), a plus.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to facilitate committees, engage stakeholders, and work collaboratively in dynamic, mission driven environments.
