Job DescriptionThe Team Lead will assist the Operations Manager in leading the Underwriting Assistant team while supporting the business strategies and activities of the underwriting departments. This role involves conducting quality reviews, mentoring team members, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
What you will do for C&F:
Leadership & Team Support:- Assist the Operations Manager in overseeing the Underwriting Assistant team, both onshore and offshore.
- Provide one-on-one training to team members as needed, ensuring consistent knowledge transfer and skill development.
- Lead check-in meetings with offshore operations staff to ensure alignment and productivity.
- Serve as a liaison for the team to assist in resolving issues and escalating concerns when necessary.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Support underwriting with the handling of booking, drafting, issuing, and post-bind transactions.
- Produce and analyze reports to ensure accurate and timely transactions are processed, reporting issues to the Operations Manager.
- Monitor and manage work to ensure policy transactions are booked and issued accurately and meet corporate time service standards.
- Screen transactions to determine proper processing and refer transactions to underwriters when necessary.
- Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned
- Conduct quality reviews of insurance policies, cancellations, endorsements, and other post-bind transactions to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identify discrepancies, errors, or inefficiencies and provide training and guidance on corrective actions.
- Analyze workflows and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
- Develop expertise in new processes and procedures to create QA attributes and provide comprehensive reporting on QA results.
- Evaluate and implement QA tools and technologies to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and advancements in QA methodologies and tools.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments within the corporation to answer policy questions, resolve issues, and identify ways to streamline processes.
- Communicate with producers to obtain information required to complete transactions.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on QA progress, challenges, and improvements.
What you will bring to C&F:
- Experience in quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead role.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial lines rating, comprehensive issuance, and post-bind processes.
- Experience with Admitted insurance policies highly preferred.
- Strong expertise in surplus lines policy issuance and post-bind operations.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must be able to travel as required (5-10%).
- Technical Ability: Expertise in developing QA attributes and reporting by mastering new processes and procedures.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to review and interpret complex data and audit reports. Strong problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in reviewing audit reports and maintaining records. Thoroughness in following audit procedures and guidelines.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly explain audit findings and requirements to policyholders, agents, and auditors.

- Customer Focus: Provides quality and timely service to internal and external customers.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint, as well as other internet-based technologies required by the role.
